Join us on Saturday, March 4th at 1:30pm for an in-person communal gathering and workshop presentation of we and other queer goddexxes, a new script-in-process created by C1 Artist-in-Residence and PlayLab Circuit Flux Lab writer mica rose. Based on a season-long series of gatherings, we and other queer goddexxes is a communal exploration of queer and diasporic identity through storytelling, poetry, movement, and audience interaction.

This event is commissioned by Company One Theatre, created by mica rose & Alison Yueming Qu, directed by Des Bennett, and supported by the Collaboration Fund grant by the National New Play Network (NNPN).

mica rose (they/them)
mica rose carves queer divinity through breath, word, and movement. They are a mestize Tagala memory artist who honors oral & embodied traditions—like theatre, story circles, biomimicry, spoken word, and more—as paths for communal care. mica roots in relationship: weaving futures with peoples at Arts Connect International, The Theater Offensive, Company One Theatre, Pao Arts Center, Liyang Network, American Repertory Theatre, and beyond. Their art is published in All the Oils by Ginger Bug Press, CONSTRUCT zine, The Margins, The Wave Magazine, and HowlRound Theatre Commons. Alison Yueming Qu (she/they)
A 1.5-generation immigrant originally from Jilin City, China, Alison Yueming Qu is a Creative Engagement Producer and Dramaturg. Alison is a curator of joyful, challenging, and radical Asian/American spaces that move everyone toward a queer future. Alison serves as the Associate Producer of HowlRound Theatre Commons, and the Co-Founder & Executive Director of CHUANG Stage—the first Mandarin bilingual, bicultural 501(c)3 theater company nationwide based in Boston, MA. Their recent artistic endeavors include The Chinese Lady (Central Square Theater), Young Nerds of Color (Central Square Theater), Shrike (Fresh Ink Theater), and working with Pao Arts Center, Asian American Playwrights Collective, ArtsEmerson, and MIT Music & Theater Arts.

Des Bennett (they/them)
Des Bennett is a multi-media theater artist and maker who values iteration, experimentation, and community care in all their work. They are a visual artist, dramaturg, director, facilitator, and arts administrator with a focus on the aesthetics of memory, ethnographic storytelling. Their recent directing work includes: True Colors Troupe (TTO), we and other queer goddexxes (WIP, Company One); Sunday Swings an Old-New Gospel (Huntington); Common Ground: Revisited (Ass. Dir., Huntington); My Body Is A Season (SpeakEasy); and Scenes From Metamorphoses (Northeastern University). They are currently dreaming QTPOC futures into being with The Theater Offensive as the Programs Manager. Des is a facilitator with Gender Explosion, and has led trans* inclusion workshops in Boston and Broadway. Des holds a BA in Theater with a minor in Psychology from Northeastern University.
