C1's Better Future Series returns for an artist/activist-led evening celebrating joy, spatial justice, and a radical vision for Trans and Queer folx of color in Boston, in honor of Transgender Day of Remembrance (Nov. 20) and Transgender Awareness Week (Nov. 13-19).
We invite all to join as we hold space for the voices we’ve lost to violence and celebrate the legacy they’ve passed on to generations of Trans and Queer folx who now dance into their divine futures. This episode will spotlight L Austin-Spooner (Youth Leadership Committee Co-Chair at BAGLY), Julia R. Golden (Interim President of Trans Resistance MA), Max McLune (Artist, Poet at blackyardarts; Youth Facilitator at BAGLY), Jhona Xaviera (Multimedia Artist and Performer); moderated by Micah Rosegrant (Artist, Poet; Artist-in-Residence at C1).
As we remember the past and fight for justice as a city today in 2021, what community actions and stories must we center? How do we channel the anger and grief of this day in history to build an equitable future?
>> What is TDOR?
Observed annually on November 20, Transgender Day of Remembrance (TDOR) honors Rita Hester, who was murdered in the Allston/Brighton neighborhood of Boston in 1998, and memorializes all those who were murdered due to anti-transgender prejudice.
